Apa anda mau pergi ke Bali dengan saya?

With this blog I hope to move a step closer to achieving my goal of one day becoming a 'reality TV' star. Actually, my real desire is to share the adventure of my upcoming visit to Bali with friends and family.

I am currently in what is known as the pre-departure stage of things. This stage is made up of mass expenditure on products that will have little or no value to me when I return to Canada - like permethrin-impregnated mosquito netting and an abundance of shapeless (pastel coloured!) dry-fit clothing.

Also, part of this stage is the knowing ingestion of numerous creepy and nasty-tasting vaccines. I have been injected with (apparently an extremely small quantity) of Japanese Encephalitis-infected mouse brain and last week I knocked back a rather large glass of 'raspberry flavoured' oral cholera/e-coli vaccine. Yum!

Anyways...of course I am extremely thrilled to be participating in this project - for those of you who are out of the loop - I will be part of a group of Western and Balinese musicians premiering a new work by Michael Tenzer at the Bali Arts Festival in July. The instrumentation is for piano; two clarinets, saxes, trumpets and trombones; and the brilliant Semarandana stylings of Cudamani.
